And the butterfly box goes to...

I just heard of the effort of a very good-hearted crafter (Trish from Techniques by Trish http:/techniquesbytrish.blogspot.com) to collect a TON of cards to cheer up a girl with cancer, so I decided to send her the butterfly box I had made for The Pink Stamper challenge... I hope that cheers her up... This post is also to spread the word for Trish's effort and ask you to send a card too... the mailing address is at Trish blogspot above, in which she explains the girl's battle with cancer a little bit better. I hope you can join us!!!

I am back!!!

Hello, my crafter friends!!!!
After resting for two weeks and starting a new job this week as an English as a Second language teacher, I am back :), about 90% recovered (still in pain if I get too busy, but nothing to worry about).
As I promised, here are the pictures of the thank you gifts I made for the doctors, nurses and staff involved in my surgery.

The pictures above show the doctors' gifts, which are a notepad with a matching pen and a matching bookmark (ideas I borrowed from "Made by Momo" at http://madebymomo.blogspot.com/2010/09/ustream-class-2-recap.html or see the instructional video at http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/9423916 ), the only difference is that I used bigger notepads I bought at Big Lots.
For the female (purple) project, I used the Storybook cartridge for the regular and scalloped circles, as well as for the capital B. For the male (blue) project, besides the circle from story book, I used the Take Notes stamp set from Papertrey ink. The "thanks" stamped images in both projects are from Hero Arts CL142 stamp set.

Now, for the nurses and other staff, I made a cocoa slider inspired by "My pink stamper" (see instructional video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wZTLi6_ViDE and http://www.metacafe.com/watch/3757518/cocoa_slider_witth_my_pink_stamper_part_2/ ), using the "What a pane" stamp set from Clear Dollar Stamps (http://www.cleardollarstamps.com/proddetail.php?prod=5882.5256 ) and the Connections stamp set from Close to my heart.

My next appointment is in 3 weeks, so please tell me what you think and if you have more ideas for inexpensive thank you gifts, you are more than welcome to share!!! I made ten of the cocoa sliders but the staff where I had my surgery is bigger than that, so I can certainly be inspired by you to have more gifts!

It is good to be back!!!

Away due to surgery

Hey crafter girl friends,

I had surgery on Monday to have a fybroid removed... Thanks to God all went well and smooth and I am at home resting under doc's orders, but, as you can imagine, I won't be crafting for about two weeks... :(
Once I am fully recovered I will post the pics of the thank you gifts I am planning to make the doctors and their crew  - we crafters are always looking for excuses to do our little things ;), so pls just be a little patient...
Thank you for following me and for the comments, it is good to make new friends and to see old ones here too!!

A butterfly box with an envelope...

After being intensily involved in social interactions (specially with my couch, napping), I couldn't sleep so I decided to work on the project above, which is going to be submitted to another challenge from The Pink Stamper blog. That challenge involves a project with an envelope. When I read that post, I was amazed by Karlee's project and inspired by her thinking "outside of the box", so this is what I came up with: A gift box with an envelope glued "outside of the box" ;) and a matching card. Now all I've got to worry about for the next birthday party is a cute gift to put in my box!! Once more, wish me luck! Now, if I win the challenge I am thinking I could make a video showing how I made my project, what do you guys think about that?

A bird card...

The card above is my first entry ever to a paper crafting challenge. It is the My Pink Stamper challenge in celebration of her 5 MILLION hits at her blog (Congrats!), in which a bird had to be featured in a project. This card is one of my first projects, and I made it last Mother's Day for my grandma-in-law. Wish me luck!!

What in the world is Brazilican?

Hello, my name is Cris and I am the Brazilican Crafter. Now, if you are wondering what Brazilican means, this post will tell you :)
The word Brazilican comes from Latin (j/k)... Actually, Brazilican is a nickname my American husband invented to describe my nationality... no, I am not American, I am BraziliAN, but once I moved to the USA to marry my handsome American hubby, he insists I am not Brazilian anymore, but Brazilican, a mix between Brazilian and American... I tease him that yes, I am American once I was born in the continent called AMERICA but, as you can imagine, that is an endless silly funny argument LOL, so I took on my given nickname to name the blog.
About the crafter part, I have been introduced this year to the wonderful world of paper crafting by my mother-in-law, who gave me my first scrapbook kit as a gift and also free tickets to a scrapbooking convention and that was all it took to get me hooked.
In this blog I am gonna post my creations in paper crafting, as well as some of my adventures in the Uncle Sam land. I moved here in November, 2009, so as you can imagine it's a whole new world for me.
I hope that you enjoy my company, I will certainly enjoy yours!!!
